Review:
Alias is NOT the comics version of
the Jennifer Garner t.v series.
Now that is out of the way, lemme just inform you
that this is the most underrated comics being written
by Bendis (coz he also pens Ultimate Spiderman, Daredevil
and Powers). But that doesn't mean that this is the
worst of the bunch. No sir-eee!
If you liked the dark/gritty style of Daredevil or
Powers, I'll bet my collection of Simpson's comics
that you will like Alias better coz this is the closest
thing I've ever read that shows superhero's in a very
dark/realistic way.
Anywhoo, the basic premise of the book is about the
adventures (or should i say misadventures) of a certain
private investigator (Jessica Jones). I know the premise
seems typical but one surprising fact that makes this
book different from the other mystery books is that
Ms. Jones is a retired superhero -she was once a member
of the elite superheo team the Avengers. Now she dumped
the whole costume/superhero gig and found a real nice/paying
job.
However, not all is going well with the new line of
work since she just found out a very BIG secret. A
secret that may either end the life of a national hero
or hers.
If you are looking for some superhero action, then
i advise you to stay away from this book coz this is
Bendis' more talking heads comics. But if your looking
for a plot/story/character driven book then you just
hit the jackpot!
