Review:
30 Days of Night is the “fast and the furious” equivalent
of vampire movies!
In a small town in Barrow, Alaska something very tragic
is about to happen. You see once a year in this small
frozen town the sun will not rise for 30 days which
means it’s buffet time for those blod-thirsty
vampires. And it’s up to the husband/wife tandem
of local officers (Eben and Estela) to figure out a
way to stop these seemingly invincible creatures of
the night before their beloved town becomes a smorgasbord.
Yap its another vampire story but its one of those
vampire stories which is quite fun and entertaining
(none of Anne Rice’s tragic/philosophical/pervertic
vampires). This is pure gore vampire story!!!
Writer Steve Niles makes no pretensions about his
book. He doesn’t bore the reader with his side
stories or history of the vampires or the town’s
inhabitants. This is straight up kill ‘em or
be killed vampire story (with a little twist in the
end).
If you liked BLADE II (by Guillermo del Torro) or
just love vampire stories then you have to definitely
pick this book up!!!
Other works:
Niles/Templesmith: Hellspawn (Image Comics), Dark
Days (IDW Publishing; sequel to 30 Days of Night coming
this June)
